Welcome to St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School.
My name is Mrs Jayne Keegan-Hobbs. I am the Headteacher of St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School. Our school is a happy, vibrant school with children from a range of cultures and backgrounds.
St Bernadette’s is a little village school which has 105 children. Our children start in Reception with an intake of 15. This means that they get lots of individual attention, challenge and support which enables them to flourish during their first year in school. Children in Years 1-6 are taught in mixed year groups and we concentrate on the ability, strengths and needs of the child, rather than their year group. This enables us to accurately pitch the work to every child’s needs.
I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School with its wonderful children, hardworking staff, supportive governing body and all within a beautiful setting with its extensive grounds. The school has excellent links with St Bernadette’s Catholic Church. Father Mark and Father Alex are our parish priests who celebrate our Masses in school and up at church.
We promote extremely high standards of behaviour and academic achievement. Our results are consistently above the national expectation in all areas of the school. You will see this when looking at our data pages.
We offer a broad curriculum, with special theme days and weeks so that we can build up skills in all areas of the curriculum.
We enjoy our sport at St Bernadette’s and love a good competition, whether it be netball, football, athletics, rounders or swimming! We have won lots of trophies during the past years and are always on the lookout for the next one!
As members of staff we are continually striving to be the very best that we can possibly be, in whatever important role we play within St Bernadette’s. We welcome positive and constructive feedback and ideas to help us make improvements.
At St Bernadette’s we really are one big family and ensure that however we learn and whatever we do, we always put Jesus at the centre. This is reflected in our new mission statement which was designed this year by the whole school community.
“JESUS BE MY GUIDE IN ALL I DO AND SAY,IN HOW I CARE FOR OTHERS, IN ALL MY WORK AND PLAY”
If you would like to visit the school, please make an appointment with the front office and I will take you on a tour of the school. We look forward to meeting your family.
