Welcome to St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School.

Hello, and welcome!

My name is Mr. Alex Turner, and I am proud to be the Principal of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School. Our school is a happy, vibrant school with children from a range of cultures and backgrounds.

St Bernadette’s is a village school which has capacity for 120 children. Our children start in Nursery with an intake of 15. This means that they get lots of individual attention, challenge and support which enables them to flourish during their first year in school. Children in Years 1-6 are taught in mixed year groups and we concentrate on the ability, strengths and needs of the child, rather than their year group. This enables us to accurately pitch the work to every child’s needs.

At St. Bernadette’s, our staff work closely with children, parents, and the parish to provide the very best education for every child. Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do. While we value academic achievement, we also believe that school should be an enjoyable experience, helping children to grow and succeed across many different areas.

Our school provides a happy, safe, and supportive environment where children can explore beyond the classroom, developing independence and the confidence to become responsible, well-rounded adults.

Pastoral care is a cornerstone of our school. We value each student, nurture good behaviour, courtesy, and responsibility, and provide the right balance of challenge and support so that all children can flourish. Through learning, living, and praying together as part of our Catholic community, we aim to help every child recognise and celebrate their God-given gifts and talents.

We offer a broad curriculum, with special theme days and weeks so that we can build up skills in all areas of the curriculum.

We enjoy our sport at St Bernadette’s and love a good competition, whether it be netball, football, athletics, rounders or swimming!

Our mission statement which was designed by the whole school community is:

Jesus be my guide in all I do and say, in how I care for others, in all my work and play

If you don’t yet know our school, we would love to welcome you. Please feel free to book a visit and see for yourself what makes St. Bernadette’s such a special place.
